Daniel Edelman named to U-20 World Cup roster

New York Red Bulls midfielder Daniel Edelman has been selected to the final roster for the United States U-20 National team ahead of the U-20 FIFA World Cup, U.S. Soccer announced today.

Edelman, 20, has made six starts in the 2023 season, where he has tallied 470 minutes played. He has spent the last two seasons with the Red Bulls and was named 2022 RBNY Newcomer of the Year, after making 18 appearances last season across all competitions. The midfielder native scored his first career MLS goal last season against Inter Miami CF.

The Warren, NJ native has captained the U.S. U-20's in this cycle, including during the 2022 U-20 CONCACAF Championship. The U.S. U-20's won the tournament and qualified for the U-20 World Cup as well as the 2024 Olympics. It was the first time that U.S. Soccer have qualified for the Olympics for the first time since 2008.

Edelman and the U.S. U-20's will begin their group stage play in the U-20 FIFA World Cup on Saturday, May 20 against Ecuador U-20. The United States will round out their group stage matches with Fiji U-20 on Tuesday, May 23 and Slovakia U-20 on Friday, May 26.
