Metro floods Salt Lake in a real laugher, 4:0

It looked to be like one of those games. Metro was dominating, but just couldn't break through. Who knows, one lucky break for the visitors... There was no such luck for RSL tonight. Metro poured it on in the second half, scoring three goals in six minutes, and running out deserving 4:0 winners.

Chris Armas made three changes from last week, as Alejandro Romero Gamarra and Daniel Royer returned to the starting lineup at the expense of Cristian Casseres and Andreas Ivan. Brian White continued his rotation with Tom Barlow.

Unlike last Metro, Metro looked determined to place shots on net. Alas, in the first half they all went directly at Nick Rimando... other than a very tentative ball from Michael Murillo that was easily cleared once it dropped in.

In the 53rd minute, it looked like RSL had their chance. Off a corner kick, a wide-open Sam Johnson whiffed, shooting wide of the net. The goal was there for the taking. And then the onslaught happened.

RSL did open the scoring, but it was on their own net, in the 58th minute. A low Murillo cross was sent through traffic, bounced off two players (the last being Marcelo Silva) and into the net. Just a minute later, a fantastic pass from Romero Gamarra found Royer, who raced in on net and slotted past Rimando. Then, in the 64th, Murillo found himself unguarded in the box, and, with all the time in the world, fired a weak low shot that bounced and went in. He was the 17th player this season to score a goal.

It was already academic, but Omir Fernandez put an exclamation point in the 83rd, converting an Ivan cross. The rookie scored for the second straight match.

Finally, the team played a complete game, dominating in all facets, and most importantly, on the scoreboard. More, please!

Lineup: Robles, Lawrence, Tarek, Parker, Murillo, Davis, Rzatkowski, Muyl, Romero Gamarra, Royer, White. Subs: Nealis, Fernandez, Ivan.
