Chris Duvall out for 3-4 months
July 2, 2015 (Official Press Release)

New York Red Bulls defender Chris Duvall underwent successful surgery this morning to repair a broken tibia, the club announced today. The injury was suffered in Wednesday night's 4-1 win over the New York Cosmos in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Duvall is expected to miss 3-4 months.

"The main thing is that, right now, your heart is with Chris, because it was a hard injury," said Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch. "It's a devastating blow for him, and it's his first real big injury of his career. But I think it's been made clear to him that this is not anything that's going to endanger his future, and it's just a matter of now it's going to take some time to heal, but that he'll come back and be stronger than ever."

Duvall has been a regular on the Red Bulls back line since being drafted in the second round of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft out of Wake Forest. The Duluth, Georgia, native made 19 appearances as a rookie, including 18 starts, and recorded one assist. Duvall appeared in 15 of New York's 16 league games so far in 2015, and scored his first professional goal, the game-winner, in the 3-1 victory over New York City FC on Sunday.
