Richard Eckersley heading Metro's way
January 25, 2014

Looks like the mystery MLS fullback that RBNY is supposedly acquiring is Toronto's Richard Eckersley. On Friday, Andy Roxburgh stated that the team is close to acquiring an "MLS player. You might even know that by the end of the day or even tomorrow." Today, BigAppleSoccer claims that the player is Eckersley, citing a league source.

Empire of Soccer confirms the report, adding that Toronto will be responsible for a large part of the player's salary.

Eckersley, 24, has been in MLS since 2011, playing in 72 matches for the underwhelming Canadian team. The English came through the youth team of Manchester United and even played four matches for the senior side.
