Didier Drogba flirting with Metro?
January 6, 2014
What's going on this offseason? What happened to all the big names that are rumored to come to New York every other year? Well, is Didier Drogba a big enough name?
The Ivorian international's name was floated over the past year. In a summer interview with Grant Wahl, he claimed that he is interested in playing in New York, following by saying that "New York is great". Now, Turkish website Sabah is claiming that had dinner with RBNY officials last Friday. Drogba's manager has also met with Red Bull soccer head honcho Gerard Houllier.
Drogba, 35, is currently with Galatasaray, where he is under contract through the end of the European season. He had spent eight years with Chelsea, scoring the late equalizer that led to their Champions League title. In 2012, Drogba made a short-term move to China's Shanghai Shenhua, before moving to Turkey last year. He played for Cote d'Ivoire in the last two World Cups, and is expected to feature this year.
