Media Day with Zach Wells
March 21, 2005

MetroFanatic: Zach, do you know if you're gonna start next week?
ZW: The way the things are right now, I would have to say yes, just because Jonny hasn't trained this whole offseason, I have been playing the full games. Without any unforeseen snags, it looks like that's the way it's setting up to be.

MF: Are they gonna bring somebody in, like Henry Ring?
ZW: Henry was with us in Ecuador, he wasn't with us in Trinidad. I don't know, I haven't spoken to him the last week, I don't know what he's up to, I don't know what their plans are. It appears right now that we have three goalkeepers, myself, Jonny Walker, and Mike Ueltschey. Unfortunately, Ueltschey has some surgery last week and Jonny is still recovering from his injuries. So if not Henry, we're gonna need someone else, just for training, just for sheer numbers. If it's Henry, that's great because he is a great competitor and a good guy, I wouldn't mind having him back there.

MF: You played two games last year, and the Open Cup game. Is that enough experience to become a starting keeper in this league?
ZW: No. Last year was tough. Those three games weren't enough to get into a rhythm at all, whereas this preseason I played in eight or ten games in goal. I'm able to get my confidence, to get my rhythm, and the timing that I was missing last year if I was just playing one game at a time. I got the rhythm of the game back.
