Media Day with Mike Magee
March 21, 2005

MetroFanatic: Mike, are you gonna be ready for the home opener?
Mike Magee: I'm hoping. I feel pretty good right now. It's supposed to be six-eight weeks, which will put me right on that first game.

MF: How do you see your role with the team this year, after playing a lot of midfield last year?
MM: Not too sure. In preseason, before I hurt my knee, I was playing both on top and in the midfield.

MF: You had some experience with the national team training camp, how did that go?
MM: Real well. The first camp turned out to be a running camp, it's where I got injured. But it was a real good experience.

MF: You missed a lot of the preseason, is that gonna impact how early you come in?
MM: Yeah, of course. If I'm not gonna be fit, I'm not gonna play. But what helps is that the second week, we have a week off, so I'll definitely be ready by the second game.

MF: What kind of formation have you been playing?
MM: I didn't go to Trinidad, but when I played, it was a 4-4-2. That went pretty well. We also tried 3-5-2, but we're not sure how it's gonna go.

MF: What does it mean to have someone on your team with Youri Djorkaeff's experience?
MM: I'm sure he's gonna bring a lot to the team. He's hurt as well, but when he's healthy and everyone is healthy, we're gonna be a pretty exciting team.
