The MetroStars ended their Preseason trip in Ecuador with a 1-1 draw with Barcelona SC this evening. The Metro's lone goal was tallied by Sergio Galvan Rey early in the first half.

In the 9th minute MetroStars goalkeeper Zach Wells came up with a huge save. Barcelona forward Guinonies played a great ball across the box that found Zambrano alone with Wells at the top of the six-yard box. Zambrano fired a low shot, but Wells made a great reflex save.

Two minutes later the Metros opened scoring for the day when Chris Leitch played a cross from the right side that found forward Sergio Galvan Rey inside the 18-yard box. Galvan Rey one-touched the ball over the Barcelona keeper Alacron's left shoulder, to give the Metros the 1-0 lead early in the contest.

Wells came up big again for the Metros in the 26th minute, this time off a corner kick. The ball was sent into the box, and Barcelona central defender Mariono headed the ball to the far post, but Zach Wells was just able to catch it just before crossing the line.

The Metros 'keeper was forced to come up big for a third time in the 41st minute, when Barcelona attacked vigorously in transition, and Garcia was able to sharply head a cross on the Metros goal. Wells was in perfect position however, and swallowed the shot.

The MetroStars almost doubled their lead in the 55th minute, when John Wolyniec broke free just over half field. Wolyniec beat multiple defenders on the dribble and broke into the 18-yard box. When he got just outside the six-yard box he was able to cross the ball, but his cross was broken up by a Barcelona defender, leaving the Metro with a one goal lead.

The Metros best scoring chance of the second half came in the 73rd minute however, when Gilberto took a pass from Lopez Ederson on the right sideline, and sent a great cross over the Barcelona defense to the feet of Galvan Rey. Galvan Rey one-timed the ball, but his shot sailed just wide of the goal.

Barcelona finally answered the Metros with a goal that came on their only true chance of the second half. Midfielder Daniel took a corner kick and played it outside of the box to Garces. Garces calmly chipped the ball into the box to forward Camacho who skillfully headed the ball to Metros' second half goalkeeper Mike Ueltschey's upper right corner. The late goal secured the 1-1 draw for the home side.
