Nick-o-lodeon: July 2000
Craig Merz - Columbus Dispatch; July 29, 2000

The New York-New Jersey MetroStars are in the final stages of site selection for two soccer stadiums.

The ownership group has an option for an expansion team and is assured of receiving one in 2002. MetroStars general manager Nick Sakiewicz said sites are being considered from southern Connecticut to Philadelphia.

The MetroStars are looking for a home in northern New Jersey. The current site in East Rutherford, as well as Newark, are on the short list.

"We could potentially break ground in 2001 and play in 2003," he said of the timetable for both stadiums. "The expansion team may have to play in a temporary facility."
