Marcus Epps acquired off waivers
December 12, 2018 (Official Press Release)

The New York Red Bulls acquired the first overall pick in this afternoon's waiver draft from the San Jose Earthquakes, and subsequently selected former Philadelphia Union midfielder Marcus Epps, the club announced today. The Red Bulls sent their second-round pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft to San Jose.

"We like what we have seen from Marcus, and are pleased to have moved up in the draft to add him to our roster," said Sporting Director Denis Hamlett. "Marcus' qualities fit our philosophy and he gives us another wide attacking option. We look forward to seeing how he can continue to develop within our environment."

Epps, 23, made 15 starts in 32 appearances for Philadelphia since being drafted by the Union in 2017. In his 32 appearances, he tallied three goals and three assists in 1,318 minutes played. Epps, who was a four-year letterman at the University of South Florida, recorded eight goals and nine assists in 75 matches at the collegiate level.
