The supposed target is 17-year old Venezuelan youth international Cristian Casseres Jr, on the books of Deportivo La Guaira. According to SOLOVENEX, "Cristian Casseres Jr has everything ready to arrive to American soccer. The midfielder will arrive at the NY Red Bulls of MLS in January. He will arrive free from Deportivo La Guaira (contract expiration)."

Casseres is a central midfielder who appeared at the 2017 South American Under-17 Championship.
