They had it. The game was theirs. Coming back to take the lead, controlling possession, looking to add another... And then, bang, bang, two goals the other way, game over, 3:2 to the blue poseurs from across the river. Oh well.

It didn't look to good early on, either. Jesse Marsch made two changes, putting in Damien Perrinelle for Michael Murillo and Kemar Lawrence for Alex Muyl. The latter did enter the game early on, coming in the 14th minute after Daniel Royer got stepped on by City hack Alexander Callens.

The blue poseurs struck in the 28th, when a Metro pass up the field rebounded backwards and onto the path of David Villa. The Spaniard rounded Luis Robles and opened the scoring.

Gradually, Metro started to control the game. They responded in the 41st, when Sean Davis fed Bradley Wright-Phillips at top of the box. His low shot went into the bottom right corner of the net, fooling the pathetic Sean Johnson.

In the 64th, Metro grabbed the lead. Muyl started the play by forcing a turnover. Eventually, the ball made it to Tyler Adams, who crossed it into the box to (who else!) BWP. Once again, Johnson was caught flat-footed, and Metro was up.

The meltdown started in the 72nd. Sal Zizzo lost the ball, the blue poseurs went the other way, Villa made minced meat of Aaron Long, and slotted past Robles. Then, a Zizzo high boot in the box was judged to be a penalty, and Villa finished his hat-trick by converting from the spot. Zizzo's day didn't get any better, as he finished with a second yellow as the game was winding down.

Oh well. The winning streak had to end at some point... it's just sad that it ended like this.

Lineup: Robles, Zizzo, Long, Perrinelle, Lawrence, Adams, Martins, Davis, Kljestan, Royer, Wright-Phillips. Subs: Muyl, Veron, Murillo.
