Now, here is the Metro we missed all year! In what was clearly their best performance of the season, Metro dismantled visiting San Jose, 5:1. Even though the majority of the goals were scored late, it was a dominating performance from the opening whistle, with three players scoring their goal of the regular season.

The 5-4-1 returned yet again, with Connor Lade and Tyler Adams in wing back roles. Unfortunately, Lade had to leave late in the first half with an injury... but not before making a difference.

That difference came in the 38th, when Lade took a pass from Sacha Kljestan and sent it to Sean Davis in the box. Davis settled the ball with one touch, then rifled it into the upper left corner.

Metro looked to have made it 2:0 right before the break, when Kljestan sent a ball off a defender into the net, but he was ruled offside on the initial shot. That second goal would have to wait until the 73rd, when sub Gonzalo Veron (who continues to improve) took the ball down the endline. The cross deflected off a defender and back to Kljestan, who fired from the top of the box for his first league goal of 2017.

Just two minutes later, a Felipe shot outside the box was deflected and ended up in the bottom left corner. And that was the thing: shots outside the box! For the first time all year, Metro wasn't afraid to shoot, and even if all of those didn't end on goal, they did their job to stretch the San Jose defense. Metro ended with 11 shots on goal, a welcome sight.

In the 88th, Metro defense fell asleep for a moment, and let Valeri Qazaishvili easily convert, but that would not be the last goal of the night. Daniel Royer scored twice in a minute, first off an acute angle, then curving a slot from the right and around the keeper.

So, truly a fantastic performance, and something to build on. Keep on shooting, Metro!

Lineup: Robles, Long, Perrinelle, Zizzo, Lade, Adams, Martins, Davis, Kljestan, Royer, Wright-Phillips. Subs: Muyl, Veron, Etienne.
