Mathis vs Dallas, 2000
All-time leading scorers against every team
April 18, 2017

Bradley Wright-Phillips' strike against DC United was important not just because it gave Metro a two-goal cushion; by scoring, BWP became Metro's all-time leading scorer against the Scum in all competitions. So let's go down the entire league, and see which Metro stands top against which team.

  • Atlanta: Daniel Royer, 1
Well... Duh. Although, theoretically, he is tied with "Own Goal".

  • Chicago: Bradley Wright-Phillips, 6
Helped by a hat-trick in a loss, but, most importantly, by a goal in the 2015 Shield clincher.

  • Chivas USA: Amado Guevara, 4
A memorable hat-trick in a 3:3 tie, and the last-minute goal in a playoff clincher. Guevara's got this one forever... Note: 3 of Seth Stammler's 7 career goals came vs Chivas.

  • Colorado: Giovanni Savarese and Thierry Henry, 6
Metro's first ever hat-trick (and regulation win) came after Gio ran all over the Rapids back in 1996. Note: 5 of Tab Ramos' 10 career goals came vs Colorado.

  • Columbus: John Wolyniec and Bradley Wright-Phillips, 7
Of course, two Woly goals stand out: the magical overtime game-winner, and the one in MLS Cup. Oh well.

  • Dallas: Clint Mathis, 13
Who else? Mathis' five-goal game came against Dallas. He actually scored 9 times against the Burn in 2000 alone.

  • DC United: Bradley Wright-Phillips, 8
BWP just broke a three-way tie with Savarese and Antony De Avila. Amazing, 7 of Pitufo's 17 goals came against the Scum... all that in a season and a half.

  • Houston: Bradley Wright-Phillips, 8
Five of BWP's six first MLS goals came against Houston, including a hat-trick in 2014.

  • Kansas City: Juan Pablo Angel, 8
Angel, who never scored a hat-trick with Metro, scored two goals against KC three times: twice in 2007, and once in 2010.

  • Los Angeles: Juan Pablo Angel, 7
The highlight is obviously the two-goal performance in the 5:4 triumph in 2007, with the later game-winner from an acute angle.

  • Miami: Adolfo Valencia, 5
Forever Valencia's, unless Miami returns from the dead... Two of those came in a great 3:0 road win in 2001 against the league-leading (soon to be dead) Fusion.

  • Montreal: Thierry Henry, 9
Oh, how Titi loved to play those wannabe Frenchies! Included are a hat-trick in 2012 and a wonderful bicycle kick in 2013.

  • New England: Amado Guevara, 6
There is a four-way tie with 5: Savarese, Wolyniec, Valencia, and BWP.

  • NY City: Bradley Wright-Phillips, 8
HA HA HA HA blue team.

  • Orlando: Bradley Wright-Phillips, 3
Two of those came in a 3:2 win last year that ended the despicable 1-6 start to the season.

  • Philadelphia: Kenny Cooper and Bradley Wright-Phillips, 5
Cooper had two two-goal games against the Worms in 2012. Sacha Kljestan has a chance to move up, as he has 4.

  • Portland: Fabian Espindola, 2
Espindola scored twice against the Timbers on his debut... twelve other players have scored but once.

  • Salt Lake: Edson Buddle, Dave van den Bergh, and Juan Pablo Angel, 3
What a group! Buddle's came in a second-half hat-trick in a 6:0 win, and VDB's include quite possibly the most important goal in team history, in the 2008 Western Conference Final.

  • San Jose: Amado Guevara, 4
Included is the winner in a 2:0 playoff clincher in 2003, and a penalty in the record-setting 5:5 tie in 2004.

  • Seattle: Bradley Wright-Phillips, 4
A hat-trick in an easy 4:1 win in 2014 pushes BWP to the top.

  • Tampa Bay: Giovanni Savarese, 6
Of course, two of those came in the in the three-goal comeback that gave Metro its first win ever. One of those was on a bicycle kick. Note: 3 of Mike Sorber's 6 career goals came vs the now-muted Mutiny.

  • Toronto: Bradley Wright-Phillips, 8
Angel has 7, but BWP reigns supreme, helped by 5 goals last season, including a first-half hat-trick in a 3:0 win.

  • Vancouver: Bradley Wright-Phillips, 3
That includes a goal in the Champions League this year... not the best note to end at.
