Homegrown midfielder Arun Basuljevic signed
January 24, 2017 (Official Press Release)

The New York Red Bulls announced today that the club has signed academy product and Georgetown University standout Arun Basuljevic to an MLS contract.

"Arun is a guy that we've had our eye on for a long time," said Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch. "He has excelled at every level. We've gotten to observe him both at Georgetown and with our U-23 team over the summer, and we feel that he is at a point in his development where it makes sense to bring him into our environment on a day-to-day basis to help him take the next step."

Basuljevic, a native of Mahopac, NY, signs with the Red Bulls after three seasons at Georgetown. The midfielder earned All-BIG EAST honors in each of his three seasons, including all-conference First Team honors in 2015 and 2016, and was the BIG EAST Rookie of the Year in 2014.

Basuljevic finishes his college career with 60 games played, 14 goals and six assists. In all three of his seasons, he ranked in the top-three on the team in scoring. Last Summer, Basuljevic was named to the PDL All-League Team after leading the Red Bulls U-23s with eight goals and five assists in 14 games.

The midfielder joins fellow Homegrowns and Hoyas Alex Muyl and Brandon Allen on the Red Bulls roster.

Prior to his time as a Hoya, Basuljevic captained the Red Bulls' U-18 squad and helped the Red Bulls to U-18 and U-16 Development Academy National Championships, as well as a Northeast Pre-Academy Championship and New York State Cup. He has represented the United States at Youth National Team levels through U-20.
