Derrick Etienne gets capped for Haiti
November 9, 2016

Derrick Etienne, who saw limited time with the senior team last year, but starred in the USL, got his first cap for Haiti. The winger played in a Caribbean Cup qualifier against French Guiana. Surprisingly, after grabbing an early 2:0 lead, the favored Haitians lost 5:2. The game was originally scheduled for October but was moved because of Hurricane Matthew.

Although Etienne was born in Richmond, VA, his had elected to represent the country of his father, also Derrick Etienne. The younger Etienne had already amassed various youth appearances for Haiti before making that senior debut.
