September 16, 2016 (Official Press Release)

The New York Red Bulls have acquired center back Aaron Long on loan from New York Red Bulls II through the end of the year, the club announced today. Long will be available to play for both the first team and NYRB II for the duration of the loan period.

Long, a native of Oak Hills, Calif., joined the Red Bulls as a trialist for the 2016 preseason and eventually signed a contract with New York Red Bulls II, the club's USL affiliate.

The 23-year-old has made 22 appearances for NYRB II as part of a defense that has kept 15 clean sheets and allowed a league-low 20 goals in 28 game this season.

Long has also appeared for the first team in CONCACAF Champions League this Summer. He previously spent time with the Seattle Sounders organization, and was originally drafted by the Portland Timbers out of UC Riverside.
