The chase for the Shield (1 game left)
October 19, 2015
Well, well, well. One game left, and Metro can grab its second trophy in three years: a win virtually guarantees the Supporters Shield. Why virtually? Well, Metro and Dallas are currently tied on points and wins, but NY's goal difference is six better. If Metro wins, Dallas would have to win to match them -- and then make up the goal difference of seven (so, if NY wins by one, Dallas would have to win by eight, because Metro owns the next tiebreaker, goals scored, by a margin of 10). It's safe to say that's quite unlikely to happen.
So, quite simply, Metro can clinch the Shield with:
A win*
A tie AND a Dallas loss or tie
A loss AND a Dallas loss*
*Provided that Dallas doesn't make up the goal difference
This is where we remind you that Metro hasn't won in Chicago since 2005.
Game on?
