New rumor: German striker Mario Gomez
July 14, 2015
Italy's favorite pink rag, La Gazzetta dello Sport, is reporting that Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez could be Metro-bound. The German international was recently hobbled by knee injuries, only scoring four goals the past season.
Gomez, 30, had previously played for Stuttgart and Bayern Munich, before moving to Italy in 2013. He played for Germany at the 2010 World Cup, as well as Euro 2008 and 2012 and has scored 25 goals in 60 caps for his country. Interestingly, his former agent is Oliver Mintzlaff, the current head of Red Bull global soccer.
Also, according to Kristian Dyer in Metro, Shaun Wright-Phillips' ballyhooed "training" stint might end up with a contract. BWP's more famous brother has been in discussions with the team about a deal.
