New York Red Bulls II defeated FC Montreal, 3-2, on Sunday night at Red Bull Arena. Anatole Abang and Red Bulls U-18 captain Derrick Etienne scored for the home side, along with an own goal from Montreal.

NYRB II opened the scoring in the 12th minute, when Etienne cut to the endline, beat his man and played in a ball for Abang to finish at the near post. The goal is Abang's team-leading fourth of the season.

Montreal was able to pull level in the 20th minute thanks to Frederic Gravelle, who was able to run onto the end of a lead pass and touch around NYRB II goalkeeper Kyle Reynish and deposit the ball in the back of the net.

New York reclaimed the lead in the 49th minute, when a cross from NYRB II right back Shawn McLaws was deflected in by a Montreal defender.

Etienne provided the game-winner with a fantastic volley in the 68th minute, getting on the end of a long cross from Anthony Wallace and striking the ball cleanly across goal and into the upper left corner.

Montreal added a goal from Alessandro Riggi, again on a breakaway, in the 81st minute.

Reynish came up big in the 86th minute, making a diving save to push a shot just wide of the right post and preserve the lead.

Montreal's Nazim Belguendouz was shown a red card in stoppage time.
