Patience? Continuity?
October 16, 2014

Two years ago, with the team ready for a playoff push, Sporting Director Erik Soler was fired. We don't know what head coach Hans Backe was told, but the writing was on the wall. You know what happened next. The lame duck went into the playoffs, crashed out to DC, and that was that.

But then, it looked like something was about to change. A franchise that has been in constant turnover for its entire existence started to preach continuity. Andy Roxburgh was hired as Sporting Director. Mike Petke became the coach. Constant roster turnover was stopped. There were promises that even if the team does not do well, things would not revert to days past. Patience. Continuity.

Throw all of that out of the window.

SoccerByIves is reporting that Roxburgh is out, and we're not surprised. After Jerome de Bontin's outing earlier this year, how could one be? After all the purse tightenings and broken promises, this is just par the course.

And what does that mean for Mike Petke? Is he a lame duck as well? Even if he is not fired yet, a new Sporting Director will very likely want to bring someone of his own...

Patience? Continuity?

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it...
