BWP is unanimous MLS Player of the Week
September 22, 2014 (Official Press Release)

New York Red Bulls forward and MLS Golden Boot leader Bradley Wright-Phillips was unanimously voted MLS Player of the Week today. Wright-Phillips recorded his third hat trick of the season in a 4-1 Red Bulls win over Western Conference leader Seattle Sounders Saturday night in front of a sold out crowd of 25,000 at Red Bull Arena.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR). This is only the fourth time a player ever has been unanimously voted MLS Player of the Week.

Following Saturday's performance, Wright-Phillips, who has 24 goals in his first full season in the League, is just three goals shy with five games remaining of the MLS single season record set by Roy Lassiter and Chris Wondolowski. It is the second time that Wright-Phillips won the MLS Player of the Week award this year (Week 8 was the other).
