What's the deal with Ronaldinho?
July 31, 2014

Let's get the stories straight. First, on Tuesday, former Herald News journalist Ives Galarcep reported that RBNY met with Ronaldinho's representatives during the World Cup. Then, later that day, BigAppleSoccer quoted a team source that "Ronaldinho is not on our radar and will not be a signing we make."

Today, Brazilian website UOL reports that "Ronaldinho is close to signing with NY Red Bulls. Player representatives have already met with the board of directors." That led to a plethora of outlets claiming that his signing is imminent.

Finally, Empire of Soccer is shutting down the rumor. According to the website, even though RBNY's representatives and Ronaldinho did meet in Brazil, the possibility of him joining were not discussed.

For those living under the rock, Ronaldinho was one of the best players in the world in the early 2000s. The two-time FIFA Player of the Year starred for PSG, Barcelona (where he was a teammate of Titi Henry), and AC Milan. He made the move back to Brazil in 2011, playing with Flamengo and Atletico Mineiro, before becoming a free agent recently. Ronaldinho had scored 33 goals in 97 caps, and played in two World Cups, helping his country to the 2002 title. He has big teeth.
