Well, that was much better, wasn't it? Coming off another early-season letdown last week in Chicago, Metro played a terrific 90 minutes, beating the Scum in DC 2:0. Thierry Henry and Jamison Olave scored the goals, and the Metro defense was fantastic in reducing DC attackers to the impotent pretenders that they are.

The game marked the return of Roy Miller into the starting lineup. The mistake-prone left back, coming off a three-assist performance for the reserves, got the start as Heath Pearce sat. Henry was finally deemed fit to play the full game, as Peguy Luyindula was sent to the infirmary.

Metro's first goal came in the 29th minute, and actually started with Dax McCarty losing the ball at midfield. The Scum took off running, and the often-maligned former vice captain S. Markus Holgersson did extremely well to stop the potential breakaway. The ball went the other way and ended up with McCarty. The ginger-haired midfielder passed off an open shot, feeding Henry instead. The French ubermensch shot a ball from just outside the penalty area that bounced in front of the net and slotted in past the heinous Bill Hamid.

Tim Cahill, who gets himself in positions to score in every match -- but, alas, somehow never finishes -- did as much in this game as well, when Henry found him with a masterful pass. The Australian, point blank with Hamid, fired with his head, only to be denied.

Soon after, in the 36th, Metro did get on the board again. Off a short corner kick, Henry got the ball to Juninho, who swung it into the box. There, it braised the head of Brandon Barklage, and ended up with Olave. The hulking defender easily got his third of the season.

And then Olave, Holgersson, and the rest of the defense did such a spectacular job that DC didn't threaten until late in the second half. Luis Robles was forced to make two quick saves off a free kick, but the game's result was never in doubt.

So it looks like we have another one to add to the list of Top Metro moments at RFK...

Lineup: Robles, Miller, Olave, Holgersson, Barklage, McCarty, Steele, Alexander, Juninho, Cahill, Henry. Subs: Espindola, Kimura, Bover.
