Claudio Reyna to be named assistant coach?
January 3, 2013

Claudio Reyna, whose Metro tenure as a player was not exactly something to write home about, is close to being hired as an assistant coach, reports SoccerByIves. He would join Mike Petke on the staff of the yet-unnamed head man.

Reyna was Metro's first Designated Player, signing in 2007. Hobbled by injuries, he retired midway through the 2008 season.

Update: SoccerByIves now reports that Reyna turned down the job.
