Thank you, Juan Pablo Angel
November 29, 2010

The jump. The slash. The adoring teammates. The loving fans.

"Goal scored by number nine... Juan... Pablo... Angel!..."

62 times he's done it for Metro. Think about it. 62 goals. The next closest competitor is 17 behind. The closest active one? 47. Yeah, that record is not getting broken any time soon.

62 goals... Which ones do we remember most? In 2007, the two in Toronto, when he single-handedly won the game in a three-minute span. The last-minute, insanely acute game-winner against LA in a frantic 5:4 match. In 2008, two goals against DC in a terrific 4:1 victory, the first off a free kick, the second off a theft of a defender. Two great individual efforts in a must-win game against Columbus. In 2009, the last-minute game-winner against Dallas, the one that ended the winless streak from hell. In 2010, the amazing last-second game-winning free kick against Houston. The clinical goalkeeper abuse in Kansas City. The... There are two many to mention. There are 62 of them.

Thank you, Juan Pablo Angel. Thank you 62 times. Thank you for all the goals, for the constant professionalism, for carrying the team on your wings for four seasons. Thank you. The club logo might say "Red Bull", but you are -- and always will be -- a true Metro. Thank you.
