Let's be clear about this. We don't care about friendlies, be they against minor league teams or European powerhouses. Games where points are not awarded are just that; pointless. That being said...

It's pretty nice to beat Juventus. And the way Metro did it -- starting a team of backups, and tearing into the Italian giant with a barrage of three second half goals -- Jeremy Hall, Conor Chinn, and Juan Pablo Angel -- can't help but make one feel better about the team.

Hall's goal, his first in a New York uniform, came in the 50th minute. After a Sinisa Ubiparipovic free kick hit the wall, Irving Garcia, who was a revelation all day on the right flank, had his follow-up shot hit off the crossbar. Hall pounced on it, and gave Metro the surprising lead.

That lead doubled five minutes later as Roy Miller ran up the left flank and sent a perfectly placed cross right onto Conor Chinn. The nationally-ranked striker did not fail, collecting the ball and slotting it past the Juve keeper.

Usual starters Angel and Dane Richards entered the game late, and combined for Metro's third in the 75th minute. First, John Wolyniec sprung Richards on the right, and the much-maligned Jamaican sent a low cross that was met by Angel. The Cherubic Assassin did not miss.

Juventus got on the board in the 90th minute, but by then, the game had already been decided.

Now, let's hope that today's good form carries over to games that actually count...
