Lame duck season: Osorio, Agoos to stay till bitter end
August 19, 2009

Well, well. According to Stefan Bondy of the Bergen Record, RBNY will fire both head coach Juan Carlos Osorio and technical director Jeff Agoos... after the season is over. According to Bondy, Red Bull is currently conducting a "an expansive search for cohesive management".

"They know it's important to make this move, but they know the problem isn't just about one or two people," the Record was told by a source. "With the new stadium opening, the team is approaching one of the most critical points in its history."

Although those are welcome news, it is still puzzling why they have to wait until the season is over to fire Osorio. Sure, a full-time coach might not be lined up just yet, but installing Richie Williams in an interim basis could show the fans that the ownership cares NOW, not AFTER the season. And a shake-up might push the players, who talk about playing for pride, yet compile loss after loss.

But, of course, that would make too much sense. Oh well. Eight games left. Eight games.
