The New York Red Bulls and Kansas City Wizards battled to a 4-4 draw this morning in MLS Preseason action at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL.
Claudio Lopez gave Kansas City the lead in the 35th minute when he latched onto a Josh Wolff through ball and broke in alone on net, beating Danny Cepero with a left footed flick.
New York pulled even three minutes later. Jorge Rojas found Mike Petke on a free kick, and the veteran defender volleyed the ball past Boris Pardo. The Red Bulls carried the lead into the half following a Dominic Oduro tally in the 42nd minute. Oduro, who joined New York in an off-season trade with FC Dallas, headed home a Dane Richards cross for his first goal in a Red Bull uniform.
The Wizards found the back of the net twice in the first 15 minutes of the second half to take a 3-2 lead at the hour mark. Graham Zusi's 56th minute tally evened the score at 2 before Lopez's second marker of the morning gave Kansas City the lead at the hour mark.
Trialist Leonel St. Preux recorded a pair of unassisted goals (69th minute and 84th minute) to put New York back in front late in the match before Raushawn McKenzie finished off a Michael Kraus flick on from a Kevin Souter corner kick in the 89th minute to end the scoring.
