John Harkes is no longer assisting
January 4, 2008

John Harkes, who joined Bruce Arena's staff a year ago, has been let go by RBNY, reports SoccerByIves. The former DC Scum midfielder shared assistant coach duties with Richie Williams. However, Williams, who has been on the staff before Arena and spent some time as interim head coach before Bruce came on board, has (so far) been retained.

After Arena's firing last years, rumors surfaced that former teammates Harkes and Williams did not get along. With Harkes being an Arena hiring, this move was anything but unexpected.

According to Steven Goff, former Chicago midfielder Chris Armas has interviewed with RBNY for Harkes' job.
