Metro suffers letdown in DC, 3:1
August 22, 2007
So much for momentum. The glorious victory that was four days ago seemed long gone, as Metro went down early and crashed at DC, 3:1. And since Metro looked like they needed a break and didn't give their all on the field, we're also gonna take a break from our usual standard and not give our all in writing this match summary.
Lineup: Carlos Mendes for Seth Stammler, John Wolyniec for Jozy Altidore.
Scum's first goal: 6th minute. DC's goal kick results in a shot that Ronald Waterreus saves but can't hold on. Ben Olsen knocks in rebound.
Scum's second goal: 8th minute. A Chris Leitch giveaway results in some bouncing around in the box and a close-range goal from Christian Gomez.
Metro goal: 21st minute. Juan Pablo Angel gets taken down on the edge of the box, but there is no whistle. Dane Richards takes the ball in and gets taken down by Troy Perkins. Angel converts the penalty kick.
Scum's third goal: 48th minute. Freeman tackles a DC player at the edge of the box. Penalty kick is given and Jaime Moreno converts. He is a fat bastard.
Best part of the match: Shep Messing calling the Atlantic Cup a farce.
We promise to try to give our all after the next match. Provided Metro can match that on the field.
Lineup: Waterreus, Leitch, Parke, Mendes, Freeman, Vide, Mathis, van den Bergh, Richards, Wolyniec, Angel. Subs: Altidore, Magee, Goldthwaite.
