Reyna rejects New York, Arena rejects Figo
November 29, 2006
Claudio Reyna sure put a damper in Metro's plans, saying he has no intention of leaving Manchester City... Yet. "There are clubs back home that are interested but at the moment there is nothing to it," he told Man City's website about leaving the club during January's transfer window. "I am enjoying my time here, I am playing and I want to keep playing for my position. Those rumours start about any American player once they hit my age. But I am not sure where they are coming from. It is just natural. My intentions were to first get back in the team and hold my position. That is what I am doing."
Of course, nothing would prevent him from leaving after the English season is over in May when he will be a free agent. There are also a million green reasons which could be tangled by Red Bull for Claudio to go back on his words and make the switch in January.
Meanwhile, Ives Galarcep has confirmed MetroFanatic's reporting that Luis Figo is not as likely to come to New York as originally thought. Galarcep cites Bruce Arena as rejecting Figo, with the Portuguese star "not fitting in" Arena's plans. With two designated player spots now open... who knows. Stay tuned.
