  • 7) October 14, 2006: Amado Guevara; New York 3, Kansas City 2
    With a win and a win only required to reach the playoffs, Guevara scores two penalty kicks to bring the team back from an early deficit. He then completes the hat-trick on a long shot that trickles in and seals another postseason trip.

    Needing a win in the last regular season game to get into the playoffs, the MetroStars get it as Meola rises to the occasion and plays an amazing game, stopping 12 shots, many of them difficult. Michael Bradley scores the winner as Metro advances.
