Peguero to be sold to Denmark
July 22, 2006

It looks like Jean-Philippe Peguero's tenure with Metro will soon be over. The Haitian forward, acquired earlier in the season, has been the subject of transfer rumors a few weeks ago, and it looks like these rumors will finally come to fruition. Peguero is not playing in tonight's match against Kansas City, held out because of a pending sale to a Danish club, according to "Running with the Bulls" pre-game report. The club was later revealed to be Brondby.

Peguero, clearly a Mo Johnston acquisition, has scored six goals in his short Red Donkey career, but has been silent in the past few weeks (especially during his two-game suspension), and has failed to form much of a partnership with Edson Buddle, a player with very similar attributes. When the transfer was originally rumored, the fee was mentioned in the $800,000 range with Metro holding out for a larger number. Now, with Johnston gone and Bruce Arena in charge, the allocation that should result from the sale could give the new Head Donkey some much-needed resources.

If Peguero is not sold, Metro is risking losing the free-agent-to-be for nothing after the season.
