Arena close to taking offer
July 13, 2006

Bruce Arena could soon be the Red Donkeys' next coach and GM, MetroFanatic has learned. At this point, the deal between the two sides seems very likely and could be announced very soon.

The Washington Post reported today that Arena has an standing offer from Red Bull to coach the club, and could make up his mind by the weekend. Arena is still officially the coach of the US national team, as he has not been fired nor has resigned.

Also according to the Post, RBNY is interested in former Germany coach Jurgen Klinsmann in a front office or consulting job. Klinsmann's other suitor is the US national team, as a replacement for Arena.

Update: On Friday, Arena's contract with USSF was not renewed, but he will remain the national coach through the end of the year. How that impacts the RBNY situation is not clear.
